Expressing gratitude isn’t just a “feel good” moment or a cute online trend. It’s one of the most powerful tools you have to increase your manifestation ability. Showing your appreciation not only requires your subconscious mind, and regulates your emotions, but it helps to align you with your dreams and goals to help you manifest them. It’s also one of the simplest method to use in your manifestation method toolbox.
Let’s break down while gratitude works, how does psychology behind it positively affect your brain and how to use it to manifest your goals – without the woo and fluff.
Why Expressing Gratitude is so Powerful
When you express gratitude, your brain releases, dopamine serotonin, which are the happy chemical, neurotransmitters responsible for:
- Motivation
- Regulating your emotions
- Happiness
- Resilience
- Optimism
This chemical shift from expressing gratitude for what you are appreciative for does a number of important things.
- It trains your brain to look for the good
New Age thinkers teach that when your express gratitude, and sends more things for you to appreciate. It doesn’t make good things fall out of the sky.
When we express gratitude, it trains out subconscious to be appreciative of what we have and experience, and trains our brains to notice more things for us to be grateful for that we already have or have come to us.
This focus on the things that you appreciate having motivates you to be more positive and pushes you to accomplish your dreams. It’s a real boost to your manifestation esteem and confidence.
- It helps you to keep tabs on your progress
When you focus on what you appreciate and the progress you’ve made, you look at how far you’ve come on your journey to reach your goals. Realizing how much you’ve accomplished helps to organize your thoughts, give you something to celebrate, and it motivates you to do more.
This helps to reprogram your subconscious to actively seek out more actions that you can take to help manifest your goals. If you’ve read my previous posts on how to reprogram your subconscious to manifest, then you know that this is a simple psychological method that new age teachers referred to as the law of inspired action.
- It’s just negative thoughts and fears to more positive ones
Expressing gratitude shifts your negative thoughts away from lack, fear, stress, and anything that is sent productive that can hinder manifesting dreams. Our imaginations can be our worst enemy. However, expressing gratitude towards the good in your life can help you to focus on a positive to calm, fear and anxiety surrounding your goals.
It’s not Woo or magic. Is cognitive reframing, and is one of the most effective tools in psychology, shifting your focus from negative situations to the positive to have an improved perspective on things.
How Gratitude Reprograms the Subconscious Mind
Your subconscious mind learns by:
- Repetition
- Emotion
- Identity and esteem
- Focus
When you expressed gratitude, you hit all four of these.
Consistently acknowledging what’s going well in your life, rewires your subconscious to believe what you tell it, and starts to shift the narrative.
“I’m unlucky” fades into the acknowledgment of “good things happen to me” the more you start focusing on the good.
“Nothing ever works out” shifts into seeing where things are improving in your life.
“I’m always struggling” boost your esteem when you focus on where you are doing well at.
Even when life seems to kick our hands, there’s always something to be appreciative of. Focusing on a positive, not only keeps you motivated, but reprogrammed self-conscious to actively improve your life in those areas.
You’ll begin to notice new opportunities, resources, events, people, and situations that can help to manifest your goals if you act on them when they arise.
It can feel like a message from the universe, but inspired action is your subconscious being fed the idea that your desires exist, and is now actively looking for ways to help you create it often without you even noticing that you were doing it.
Why Gratitude Increases Manifestation Ability
Manifesting isn’t about sending out energy to the universe, and having a Bentley fall from the sky if you think hard enough like some of these new age teachers tell you. My personal favorites are the ones who tell you that you can manifest anything in 24 hours to get you to click on your video and watch it. Moving on.
Manifesting is about aligning your thoughts, emotions, and actions with their desires to help foster ways to make them your reality. It’s easier to manifest when you’re in a positive mindset because what you focus on subconsciously shift your identity you begin to take on who you tell yourself that you are, and that you have what you desire to have.
This shift in your subconscious aligns with your conscious mind and causes you to start seeing ways and doing the things needed to reach your goals. I’ve got a whole blog on how to use subconscious reprogramming to manifest.
Expressing gratitude, supports manifestation because it:
- Raises your emotions to be more positive
- Reduces fears and anxiety
- Increases your confidence
- Strengthens belief that your goals and dreams are obtainable
- Helps you to notice more resources and opportunities
- Reshapes and reinforces your identity to someone who has it
When you feel confident, motivated, and grateful, you take on the identity of someone who is lucky and expects things to work out in your favor. This identity shift influences the decisions and actions you take, and fosters the habits needed to manifest your desires.
Its the science behind “attracting more of what you appreciate.” because when you acknowledge your successes, your subconscious goes harder in trying to recreate them. Of course I have a blog on how to use celebrating your success to manifest more things to celebrate. It’s one of my personal favorites, and I would love to have you check it out.
Gratitude Makes You More Positive
You don’t become more positive simply by forcing yourself to think happy thoughts. You transform into a more positive person by acknowledging what working, even if it’s small. Expressing gratitude helped to bring me out of some terrible places mentally, and I’m grateful for learning this lifesaver hack.
Expressing gratitude helps you:
- Shift out of survival mode
- Reduce negative biased towards people in situations
- Build emotional resilience
- Feel more grounded emotionally
- Feel more hopeful
- Feel more capable
How are you feeling about yourself health to manifest because it’s less resistance for your subconscious mind to work around. This is coming from the former regional champion of the Negative Nancy’s Pessimistic Players. So if I can decide to shift my mindset to create a better mean and have a better life, then I know for a fact that anyone can. Have a blog in my experience of shifting my mindset to be more positive for manifesting if you’d like to check it out.
How to Practice Gratitude Without Making It Complicated
You don’t need a candle ritual, a moon phase, or Himalayan salt lamp. You just need to make the effort and acknowledging the things in your life that you appreciate.
Here’s a few ways to incorporate, expressing gratitude in your daily life:
- Speak it aloud or make a mental note
A simple “ thank you for_______. I appreciate it.” either spoken aloud or to yourself can really boost your mood and motivate you. Especially when you catch yourself having a stressful moment.
I almost always expressed gratitude in this manner when I receive new sales, receive favorites on my products, site subscriptions, or anything that shows growth within my brand as I noticed it happening. It also has kept me excited, motivated, and actively focusing on growing my brand when I see these symbols of progress. Thanks for being here and reading this blog post, by the way.
- Use a gratitude journal
Not only does journaling what you’re grateful for help to do all of the above, but it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. It also introduced the belief that you’re on the right track through repetition and engagement.
Handwriting helps the process the words that you write and commit them to your memory. Your subconscious mind is responsible from running in the background, and storing memories and information for future use. Doing so helps to reprogram your subconscious mind to take our new identities and see opportunities to manifest your goals faster.

- Micro gratitude
If you struggle with finding things to be grateful for, and knowledge, a small things such as:
- A good cup of coffee
- A moment of silence and peace
- Kind, funny, or motivational messages
- A small win
- A new idea to take action on
- Pairing gratitude with visualization
Imagine the future you desire. See yourself reaching your goals and feel grateful for them in advance. Focusing on your manifestation as if they exist helps your subconscious to align with them. Especially when you feel good about them. The more emotions that we put into feeling as if we have manifested our dreams it’s like pouring kerosene on a manifestation flame.
- Use gratitude as negative thought recovery
when you focus on something negative such as lack or something, not working out, share your thoughts to what you were grateful for. This has been beneficial to me when left alone to debilitating thoughts that my imagination was extremely talented at cooking up unnecessarily. Not only do I write my blogs from you psychological and neurological methods, but I’m giving you tips that has literally saved me.
Be Specific in Expressing Gratitude
You’re subconscious responds better when you are specific about what you want to manifest.
Instead of “I’m grateful for money” try “I’m appreciative of the sales that I made this week on amazon.” just creates a stronger imprint, it helps subconscious be more successful in coming across better opportunities and resources to manifest your dreams instead of vague-fishing.
