Negative Nancy: How to Be More Positive to Manifest

Sometimes being more positive can’t seem easier said than done, especially when it comes to manifesting our dreams. This God is to help shift your mindset when positivity doesn’t come naturally, and how being more positive boost your manifestation by reprogramming your subconscious mind. Hear me out.

Positivity isn’t about pretending that everything is perfect or smiling through the BS. wanting to have a positive outlook so your thoughts, emotions, and action support the life you want to create when you are used to being negative is doable. I’m not just saying that for funsies. Allow me to introduce myself.

I was the former Negative Nancy MVP of the Regional Division of Pessimistic Players. Undisputed. If there was something to complain about, you could count on me to have your back. If there was any reason, something couldn’t work out, I could make you a PowerPoint presentation about why. My default setting was skepticism, grievance, and I want each championship match by finding the dark cloud in every silver lining.

Unfortunately, my life reflected that back to me in having negative outcomes. Focusing on the negative consistently had negative negativity show up in my life without an apology. Nothing worked out, which is funny since my default setting was expecting nothing to work out.

So when I tell you from a personal standpoint that shifting your mindset is one of the most powerful and practical things you can do to change your life, I’m not speaking from a place of natural optimism.

I’m speaking from a place of building my positive outlook from a place that was built brick by brick on top of the foundation that had none. If I can do it then you can. So let’s talk about how.

This is the easy to follow DIY blueprint of how to be more positive manifest your goals, dreams, and desires, that I wish I had back in the early 2000’s.

Why Positivity Matters With Manifesting Our Goals

Manifestation isn’t about just “ sending good energy to the universe” to get the things that we want to appear out of nowhere. It’s about aligning with your desires, shifting your identity and beliefs, and doing the necessary work to have them. If you’ve read my previous post on reprogramming your subconscious to manifest your goals then you already know what I’m going to mention next.

Your subconscious mind doesn’t run a background check on the information you feed it. It simply adopts what you tell. It is real based on what you learn and experience when it files things away into your memory. Over time, it begins to believe what you continue to say, feel, and think about— be it good or bad. Then it begins to look for evidence on what it believes is real. That’s when you start noticing more lack and negativity to complain about, to fear, and to keep you from moving forward.

If you tell yourself:

  • “I can’t do it.”
  • “It won’t work out.”
  • “It’s a waste of time.”

Or any limit symbol, beliefs that’s a waste of your imagination, you’ll unfortunately adopt negative traits and habits that support your theory.

Some of these debilitating attributes are:

  • procrastination
  • Lack of motivation
  • Lack of confidence
  • Laziness
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Not the fun person to be around

What Being Positive Does

So what does being more positive actually, do to help you manifest your goals? I’m happy you asked.

  1. It shifts your emotional baseline.

Positive emotions activate the parts of your brain that are responsible for:

  • Creativity
  • Decision-making
  • Motivation
  • Resilience
  • Inspired action
  1. It reduces fear and a scarcity mindset.

Negativity activates your amygdala which is responsible for fear and threat detection. You interact with other parts of your brain that hold emotional significance and stores them in your memory. Your brain won’t allow you to move forward if it thinks something is bad.

It definitely won’t act if it’s something that you feel that you can’t do. See where this is a problem? It reprograms your subconscious mind.

When you tell yourself positive information, such as “Good things happened to me.“ or “I am a confident person“ your subconscious begins to believe them, and that’s when a few things begin to happen.

  1. Identity Shifts

You’ll begin to take on traits of someone who has accomplished your goals. you’ll notice a boo and confidence and motivation that you can make it happen.

2. Opportunities Arise from Inspired Action

We’ve had the discussion about your brain, seeking out evidence of what it believes is true. When you reach your goals, you’ll begin to notice ways to make them come to life such as a course online to help you get that promotion at work. Or you may feel inspired to pop out of bed and go order items to jumpstart your fitness journey. Guilty as charged.

New Age teachers dress this ideal up that the universe tapped you on the shoulder, and told you that Coursera has a digital marketing course taught by Google to help advance your career. I totally recommend taking it, by the way.

However, the law of inspired action is simply you think about your desire so much that you begin to notice ways to take action to manifest them. No woo or hoping the universe heard you after journaling about it for 55 times for 5 days straight, and a sign fell out of the sky and onto your instagram feed.

Deliberately Choosing to Be Positive

The first step to being more positive is choosing to do so. You have to really decide this. Not an “It would be nice…”, but a genuine and committed choice that the old way of thinking isn’t working out. That it’s time to do something different to have better and be better is half the battle.

Shifting towards a more positive mindset begins to interrupt the cycle of being stuck. When your thoughts and energy changes tomorrow, hopeful and a short thoughts, you no longer search for evidence of things not working out. You’ll see more of what’s possible, seeing the same circumstances through a different lens— hopefully through rose colored glasses.

What Making a Positive Shift Looks Like

Becoming more positive doesn’t mean pretending everything is cool when it isn’t. It means to deliberately and consistently redirect your default focus from what’s wrong and not working, from lack, or from what could go down like Frasier to what can actually work out well for you.

It does require effort and practice when you catch yourself slipping. After all, your brain is a muscle complaining daily makes you a well class complainer and a miserable person to go out to eat with. Positive focus(practice consistently) makes seeing and feeling more optimistic, progressively more natural and effortless.

You’re always training your noggin towards something. Actively choose to be happy and focus on the good. So let’s talk about ways to pull that off.

How to Intentionally be More Positive

The hardest part of being positive is making your mind up that you want to be. You’ve already reached that point if you are currently reading this blog more than likely. Moving on.

  1. Express gratitude

If I could choose one method to help foster a positive mindset, it would be expressing gratitude. I love you so much that I wrote a whole post about it. It works reliably because your brain can’t simultaneously generate the stress response that powers anxiety, complaining, and negativity.

Expressing gratitude, releases, dopamine, and serotonin, which:

  • Improve your mood
  • Increase motivation
  • Reduces stress
  • Helps you think more clearly

Says expressing gratitude helps to reprogram your self-consciousness, you’ll begin to notice things to be more grateful for.

Tip: start your day with three things that you’re grateful for, and end it with three things that you were grateful for. Your brain is more receptive to reprogramming at this time.

Make sure to take a look at my post on how to use gratitude to use your manifestation ability. It goes into detail on why it works, and how to incorporate it into your daily life. I also have a really cool, aesthetically pleasing, and effective planner that you can download and print to help foster more gratitude into your life at the link. Treat yourself.

  1. Positive affirmations.

These are my jam. The more you read, listen to or speak your desires, the more you believe they are possible. Affirmations are my favorite manifestation techniques, so of course I have a post about that also. Make sure to check it out for Waze you said you can speak your dream life “to life”.

  1. Scripting

It’s rarely a day that goes by that I don’t write my desires down to help focus on them more. And put them in a positive light as you are writing them down as if they exist instead of focusing on how they are potentially unattainable.

Writing not only creates clarity, but it commits your goals to memory, what the process of reprogramming your subconscious begins to manifest anything.

  1. Vision boards, and visualization methods.

Some of us are visual thinkers. Vision boards, and visualizing your goals as if they exist. Focus on the possibilities over lack. Bob Proctor said “ If you could see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.” I’m a firm believer of that.

Tip: take time to focus on your goals in a quiet space while being relaxed as if you are watching a movie where they are playing out. Not only is it fun and relaxing, but it’s an excellent method for thinking more positively about your future. Check out my blog on using visualization to manifest your goals.

  1. Give yourself grace.

You’re not going to be positive 24/7. No one is.

You will:

  • Have bad days
  • Get overwhelmed
  • Be upset
  • Be faced with old habits

This doesn’t mean that you failed because of one bad day when eventually storms run out of rain, and better ones are on the horizon if you keep sailing on. Don’t beat yourself up over it. It just means that you are human. We all have crappy days.

I didn’t become a positive person overnight. I made the effort to improve each day. Making the attempt to be more positive isn’t about ignoring reality. It’s about choosing to see the bright side to support your growth and mental health.

If a negative Nancy like myself can turn that shit around and be more positive, then I know you can do the same.
